Grinz was founded in 1998 by Ross Gohlke and originally offered Web development and consulting services.
In 2000, Grinz added Web/email hosting and programming services.
In 2002, Grinz added the controlDock v1.0 service. Originally developed as a joint effort with Kristopher Yates (of Doomstar fame) to simplify development of and collaboration on complex Web projects, controlDock gave Grinz clients the ability to update their websites directly, using only a browser.
In 2004, Grinz launched controlDock v2.0. Building on previous objectives v2.0 was redesigned and rewritten to be more secure, easier to use and more scalable, incorporating lessons learned from an active client base.
In 2006, Grinz renamed controlDock to HOSTING and launched v3.0. This version incorporated a cleaner interface, better security, a re-designed framework based on PEAR components and a number of new applications.
In 2007, Grinz launched Grinzport v4.0.
In 2008, Grinz launched Grinzport v5.0.
